Recognizesa47-55kDatumorsuppressorprotein,identifiedasWilm'sTumor(WT)protein.EpitopeofAb-4mapsbetweenaa1-318.WT,asporadicandfamilialchildhoodkidneytumor,isgeneticallyheterogeneous.Wilms'tumorisassociatedwithmutationsofWT1,azinc-fingertranscriptionfactorthatisessentialforthedevelopmentofthemetanephrickidneyandtheurogenitalsystem.TheWT1geneisnormallyexpressedinfetalkidneyandmesothelium,anditsexpressionhasbeensuggestedasamarkerforWilmstumorandmesothelioma.Thisantibodyisexcellentforstainingofformalin-fixed,paraffin-embeddedtissues.
